Meditations That Medicate

"Too long have we, evangelistically minded believers, focused on 'being right', instead of on 'loving greatly'. " -Jack Hayford

"The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and then walk out the door and deny Him with their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." -Brennan Manning

Echo,
i get what you are about. i wanted to shoot you an email and at least encourage you on your venture from here. I am a musician, have been since i was eight years old. I grew up in chicago, thinking i was 'midwest' because chicago is "in" the midwest. I moved to cincinnati and realized that i am definitely NOT midwest, and that i have always had a west coast type of attitude. I love oregon (got my first tattoo in portland), and have always wanted to be a part of something spectacular. I grew up with the idea that Rock and Roll was as much a look, a feel, an attitude, a demeanor and a presence as much as it was a sound. I used to be in a professional rock band that had its van, its attitude, its life and its reality. I worked in a major market hard rock radio station in downtown chicago when i was in college and basically ever since i havent really 'felt' at home in 'church.' i was / am the type of person who, while longing for more than just an hour on sundays with god, has always been able to feel god in nature and in music. ive always just been a dude who loves god, loves music, and just wants to be an extraordinary fusion of the two. It sounds like you guys are on the right track, and i would love to help, but alas, in my life as a musician, i knew one of my weaknesses was my singing, so for the past two years i have been working with a singing instructor / vocal coach / mentor / (in the end) friend to really nail down my ability to sing along with what he calls my excellence abided. so at the end of all this rambling... sorry... i wish you all well, and know that a dude in ohio who loves god and loves music wishes you the best, and is praying for you!
